What is a Spread?
A "spread" is a layout — a structure where each card position has a specific meaning. Spreads turn a collection of cards into a story. The position tells you what role each card plays in the answer.
Single Card
The simplest spread. Draw one card. Use it for: morning guidance, quick check-in, simple yes/no questions, daily reflection. The Card of the Day in Ayrora is a single card.
Three-Card Spread (Past · Present · Future)
The most popular spread for any meaningful question:
- Card 1 — Past: What led to this situation
- Card 2 — Present: Where you stand right now
- Card 3 — Future: Where this is heading if you stay on course
You can adapt the positions: Mind / Body / Spirit · You / The Other / The Connection · Situation / Action / Outcome.
Love Spread
For relationship questions:
- You: Your role and feelings in the relationship
- The other person: Their role and feelings
- The relationship itself: Where it is going
Career Spread
- Current situation: Where you are now professionally
- Obstacles: What is blocking progress
- Advice: The best path forward
The Celtic Cross (10 cards)
The most famous and complex tarot spread, used for deep questions:
- Current situation
- Obstacle or challenge
- Distant past / root cause
- Recent past
- Possible future
- Immediate future
- You / your attitude
- External influences
- Hopes and fears
- Final outcome
The Celtic Cross takes 15-30 minutes to read properly. Save it for important questions where you have time to sit with each card.
Reading Tips
- Set the question first. A vague question gets a vague answer.
- Read the cards together. Don't interpret each in isolation — see how they speak to each other.
- Trust your first instinct. Your intuition often catches the meaning before your mind explains it.
- Take notes. Write what the cards meant. Re-read in a month — patterns will emerge.
